Can I use a standard propellor for a gas motor on my electric outboard?
Back to FAQsNo, you should not attach a gas outboard propeller to your electric outboard for the following reasons:
1. Mounting Incompatibility
The Spirit 1.0 Plus uses a proprietary hub design specific to ePropulsion. Gas outboard propellers typically use a different hub size, spline count, and attachment method.
2. Performance Mismatch
Gas outboard propellers are designed for high-RPM combustion engines. Electric outboard motors have a larger propellor than gas-driven motors because of they have a much higher torque (at every speed), meaning you go faster at fewer RPMs with the larger propeller. Using the wrong propeller can drastically reduce efficiency and thrust.
3. Motor Strain and Damage
A mismatched prop can overload the electric motor, leading to overheating, reduced battery life or permanent motor damage.
4. Voided Warranty
Both ePropulsion and Remigo have warranties that will be voided from using unauthorized or third-party propellers.
