What is the electric equivalent to a 9.9 HP outboard?
Back to FAQsThe ePropulsion Navy 6.0 Evo is the electric equivalent of a 9.9 HP gas outboard. It is a 6 kW, 48V direct-drive motor that suits tenders, dinghies, RIBs, aluminum fishing boats and sailboats.
The electric outboard motor is sold on its own, but you need a few additional components to make it all work:
- Battery: Choose either the ePropulsion E163 163Ah LiFePO4 battery or a compatible third-party lithium-ion battery (which also requires the Navy 3rd-party Battery Connector Kit) like the Epoch 100Ah LiFePO4 V2 Elite. 3rd-party batteries must be 48V and support continuous discharge of 125A. Note that hydrogeneration is only available with the ePropulsion E163 battery. More info about choosing a battery is here.
- Battery charger: Battery chargers are sold separately (in case you want one battery charger for multiple batteries).
- Throttle control: you have the choice of either a tiller, or a remote control: the top-mounted, wireless control or a side-mounted control. Choose a remote throttle if you want to connect the motor to a steering wheel.
It is also possible to use two Navy 6.0 Evo outboards in the same boat to double the thrust and power. Use the Evo Dual Remote Control to control both motors and the Dual Motor Link Arm to connect both to your steering system so they move synchronously.
