Spirit 1.0 Evo is a portable 1kW electric outboard (equivalent to a 3hp gas motor). It features a large 1276Wh, integrated, lithium polymer battery for long range. It’s quiet, lightweight, and clean power.
Unlike it’s little brother, the Spirit 1.0 Plus, the Evo version offers hydrogeneration. Like regenerative braking on a Tesla, this extends the runtime/range by recharging the battery while sailing at speeds above above 4 knots. As such, the Spirit 1.0 Evo is ideally suited to sailboats up to 3,300lbs (1,500kg). Note that hydrogeneration only works with ePropulsion batteries.
Additional improvements above the Spirit 1.0 Plus include remote steering and remote wireless throttle capability, optional wireless remote safety wristband (connect up to 8), and a backlit display on the tiller with a richer set of real-time data. Choose the option with the top-mount or side-mount remote wireless throttle to use with a steering wheel rather than a tiller.
Like all ePropulsion motors, the Spirit 1.0 Evo is suitable for freshwater and saltwater, and because it requires no gasoline, it provides clean power with no emissions, no oil slicks and no noxious fumes. Stow in the trunk of your car without worry of spills or smell.
It’s also virtually silent, peaking at only 55dB on full throttle (which is as loud as a normal conversation). The Spirit 1.0 Evo is a direct drive motor so there are very few moving parts and no friction noise. This results an extremely quiet and lightweight (19kg/42lbs) motor that is virtually maintenance-free. Simply charge the battery from any standard 110V outlet or charge with the optional solar panel charger (even while motor is running) or from any 12V source with the 12V charger.
The integrated Spirit Battery Plus and throttle controls (Evo Tiller, Side Mount Control and Wireless Remote Control) are sold separately. If you’re using an external battery, you’ll need the External Battery Cable.
Rent per day or per week, and if you’d like to keep it, we’ll put 80% of the rental fee towards purchase.
Easy to carry. Compact, lightweight, and foldable. 20kg/44lbs including battery.
Other than a fresh water rinse after use and keeping the electrical contacts clean, requires no regular maintenance or winterization.
Stow in the trunk of your car without worry of spills or smell.
Recharge as you sail.
Leave the Spirit Evo down while sailing, spinning propeller charges the battery. Does not work with third party batteries, and boat speed must be above 6 knots for the power generated to be meaningful.
ePropulsion is the first motor manufacturer to introduce hydrogenation into their motors, allowing them to travel further.
Tilt angle: 75%
4 trim angles: 0°, 7°, 14°, 21°
2-blade, 11” × 5.8” (280 mm × 147 mm) composite (nylon reinforced) propeller.
Spirit electric motors have a larger propellor than gas-driven 3HP motor because of the extreme torque from electric motors (you go faster at fewer RPMs).
3 different shaft lengths:
For inflatable boats and motor boats, the short shaft is recommended. For sailboats the long shaft is usually the right one. To be sure, check out the ePropulsion guide “How to Find Your Shaft Length”.
Integrated, removable, lithium-ion polymer battery. Provides 75 minutes of full-speed runtime, 3-5 hours at cruising speeds, 10-12 hours of trolling. Chargeable from any standard 110V outlet, or can be charged with a solar panel. Batteries can be swapped out in seconds. And it floats!
Built-in tiller handle. Folds down completely, can tilt upwards slightly (not removable).
Simple stepless throttle control: the throttle hand feel is clear, smooth and enjoyable. Turn clockwise to go forward, counter-clockwise for reverse (right-handed mode).
No need to spin the motor around to go in reverse, which is the case with many small gasoline outboards.
Easy right-handed or left-handed operation (swap direction of clockwise and counterclockwise rotation).
Max power output adjustment: With a smaller full throttle power, it’s safer for kids and rental boats.
Magnetic kill switch for safety. Attach tether to the driver, if it detaches the motor shuts off.
Electric start: press one button and you’re ready to go. No more tiring pull cord start.
Digital LCD display provides current voltage, watts, battery level and remaining runtime
Anti-corrosion anodized coating and powder coating protects the base material from corrosion.
Charging port works with both AC charger and solar charger.
Battery pull latch makes battery installation easy and quick.

All ePropulsion electric outboard motors come with a standard 2-year warranty, with an additional year of warranty protection on all models except eLite if you register your motor with ePropulsion, for a total of 3 years.
The shaft length you require depends on the transom height of your boat. Take a look at ePropulsion’s shaft length guide to determine which shaft length you need. The Spirit 1.0 Plus is available with an extra short, short and long shaft. The Spirit 1.0 Evo and Navy Evo series are available with a short or long shaft.
Note that shaft lengths of electric outboards are measured differently than combustion outboards, so it’s important to double-check which shaft length is ideal for your boat.
