Try Before You Buy
Rent-to-own an electric outboard for days or weeks
On the Fence About an Electric Outboard?
Rent an electric outboard for as long as you need to determine that it will (or won’t) fit your needs.
If you decide to keep it, we’ll apply 80% of the rental fee toward the purchase.
It’s a low-risk way of ensuring that going electric is right for you.

How Long?
Determine how long you’d like to keep the unit (minimum 4 days if it needs to be shipped). You can change your mind and return it or choose to buy it anytime. We’ll bill you for the actual amount of time you rent the motor, so you can return it early or keep or longer (with prior written approval).
2
Application Form
Fill out, download and sign the rental application form (click the “Get Started” button below). This will also create an OceansEV account.
3
Credit Card
Provide a credit card number that the rental fees will be charged to. We’ll authorize the card for the full value of the motor, and charge for the actual number of days or weeks of the rental at the end. Any loss or damage to the rental product as well as any shipping fees incurred will also be charged to this card.
4
Rental Shipped
We’ll ship either a brand new or like-new (demo) outboard to you (both will have a full limited warranty). You can pick up the unit from our Victoria, BC location if you wish, and save the shipping cost. Any time spent in shipping is not counted as rental time (the rental term begins when the unit is delivered to you).
5
Try it Out!
Time to go boating. You’ll have access to all resources as any new customer would, including video tutorials and email or phone support in case you need any assistance. Keep all original packing materials in the event you decide to return it at the end of your rental.
6
At the End of Your Rental
If you decide to return the electric outboard:
- The unit must be returned in the original packaging with all components and documentation intact. Any damage that occurs while in your possession or in transit back to us is your responsibility, so be sure to pack it well—exactly as it came to you.
- The shipping cost is your responsibility.
- When we receive it, the motor will be inspected for damage and loss of any components. Any additional charges will be applied to your credit card on file.
If you decide to keep the electric outboard motor:
- Just let us know before the end of the rental term.
- We’ll apply a credit equal to 80% of all rental fees you’ve paid to that point.
- We’ll process the purchase to the credit card you registered earlier.
- That’s it—keep enjoying your electric outboard!
